The Art of iconography
with
Nikita Andrejev

We are thrilled and honored to invite Prosopon School Instructor and Master Iconographer Nikita Andrejev, who will come and teach a 6-day icon writing workshop at our studio.

The course offered represents the study of the techniques, principles, and spiritual meaning of the ancient Christian art of icon painting. The Prosopon School draws on various historical methods and schools of painting, including the ancient horizontal "floating" technique (plav’) of the midieval Russian tradition (XIV–XVI centuries). However, emphasis is placed on the assimilation of the principles underlying the artistic tradition rather than on exact copying of prototypes.
